VIPs are a group of active seniors, age 55 and up. Under directors
Thelma and "Hob" Johnson they plan Friday night dinners
every month or so, usually with the food and decorations done on a
theme. They are always full of new ideas, and have a warm-hearted crew
assisting them. The tickets are rarely over $10 per person, and guests
are more than welcome. Tickets usually go on sale in the lobby about
two weeks before the event.
Weekly Bible Studies & Sunday Adult Bible Fellowships
In many churches, the only ones who attend Bible study are those
younger in age. One person arrived at Redwood and was amazed to see
seniors in love with God's Word, flocking to great Bible studies. One
opportunity is our 11:00am LifeStage Classes on Sunday morning. Some classes that have a strong
contingent of Seniors are the Ambassadors, Circle, and Agape. For
those very senior Seniors, we have the Bereans class. We also have
Small
Group studies midweek, though some do not meet in the summer.
Fabulous Fridays
Fabulous Fridays are Friday Summer outings for Seniors, Adults,
Kids -- Anybody! Many seniors enjoy these outings where we travel
together to museums and sites within 1-3 hours of the church. Modes of
transportation vary, though we try to travel by bus or van. In June,
flyers describing the outings are available in the church lobby.
